DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

The Development Committee of the Connecticut Teacher of the Year Council works to establish ties with potential sponsors whose support is vital to the continuation and growth of the Teacher of the Year Program.

SELECTION COMMITTEE

The Selection Committee works to provide information related to each aspect of the selection process.  The committee is responsible for updating materials annually and for coordinating all aspects of the selection process in conjunction with the Connecticut State Department of Education.

CEREMONY COMMITTEE

The Ceremony Committee works with the Connecticut State Department of Education to plan and present the annual celebration at which the Connecticut Teacher of the Year and district teachers of the year are recognized in a large public forum.  Members of this committee assist CSDE in program planning, coordination of the venue, and ceremony management.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR ENGAGEMENT COMMITTEE

The Teacher Engagement Committee works with the Connecticut State Department of Education and other organizations to coordinate teacher of the year involvement on various education advisory committees, including quarterly meetings with the Commissioner of Education. The committee coordinates teacher of the year appearances at workshops and events, and requests for speeches at education conferences and meetings.  The Teacher Engagement Committee also plans and oversees professional learning activities for teachers of the year.

SYMPOSIUM COMMITTEE

This committee coordinates the annual Empowered to Lead Symposium, an event to which all district teachers of the year are invited to attend.  The committee works with a conference partner and the Connecticut State Department of Education to establish the symposium theme, plan sessions, seek out presenters and coordinate conference logistics.
